understanding the process

Serene Coastal Sand Dunes
“Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen. Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process, is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do.”
Brene Brown

Start with a Complimentary Call

Take the first step with a free, no-pressure call. This is your chance to:

  • Share your story: what has brought you to counselling

  • Explore your hopes: whether it’s building stronger relationships, feeling calmer, or understanding yourself better

  • Check the fit: do you feel safe and comfortable with me and my approach?

You don’t need all the answers. The call is just a gentle way to see if this feels right for you.

Build a Safe, Trusting Space

I work integratively, drawing from psychodynamic theory, person-centred counselling, and CBT. Together, we create a space that is:

  • Safe & judgement-free — a place to be honest

  • Flexible & personalised — sessions paced to your needs

  • Supportive of change — encouraging self-awareness and growth

When trust is present, you can explore old patterns, emotions, and experiences, and begin to respond differently to life’s challenges.

What You’ll Gain in Sessions

Here’s what I bring to our work together:

  • A listening ear — no rushing, just working to your agenda

  • An Integrative approach — Everyone’s different, some clients find structured tasks helpful, others enjoy exploring thoughts and feelings in the moment. We’ll discover the approach that best supports you.

  • Practical tools — to help support you outside of the counselling room

  • Flexible sessions — face-to-face, walk and talk, on-line

  • Ongoing support — whether short-term or a longer journey

My work isn’t just about insight; it’s about real, lasting change. You’ll leave with tools to soothe, regulate, and respond differently when old patterns show up.

What Therapy Can Offer You

Counselling isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about creating a relationship and space where you can explore honestly, feel understood, and develop strategies that make life feel more manageable. Benefits often include:

  • Greater emotional clarity and self-awareness

  • A kinder inner voice

  • Feeling less overwhelmed and more grounded

  • Healthier boundaries and relationships

  • New ways to respond to stress instead of falling into old habits

Therapy is a journey, not a race. You move at your own pace, with curiosity, support, and compassion along the way.
